As a founding partner in the National Hunting and Fishing Day “Live It!” grant program, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative supported Wonders of Wildlife’s efforts to expand the number of events celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day, designed to inform the public on the importance of hunters and anglers and spread the traditions of outdoor recreation.
For more than 50 years, National Hunting and Fishing Day has been recognized by every U.S. President as the 4th Saturday of September. In 2014, 63 NHF Day events took place across 21 states not including events held in Bass Pro Shops across the country. National Hunting and Fishing Day was created to spread awareness of the conservation and economic benefits as well as the traditions and values of hunting and fishing.
2014 marked the introductory year of National Hunting and Fishing Day’s “Live It!” Grant program through the support and funding of the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative. The Live It! Grant helps fund the operations and logistics of NHF Day events across the country. These events play a significant role in spreading awareness to the issues of public access for hunting, fishing, shooting, and outdoor recreation. The “Live It!” grant program was a huge benefit to local conservation programs wanting to host or enhance NHF Day events, but were limited in their own resources.
The Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative is proud to support Wonders of Wildlife’s National Hunting and Fishing Day, and its pursuit to spread awareness for safe and responsible access to outdoor recreation, and conservation of our nation’s wildlife.
